Tooth extraction procedures today are far less painful than ever before, thanks to effective anaesthetics. In many cases, patients experience little or no discomfort and only minor bleeding following an extraction.

Most tooth extractions are straightforward procedures, followed by at-home care that includes rest and gentle care of the extraction site. Some patients may need to take antibiotics, and all patients should follow post-operative instructions carefully to reduce the risk of infection. Smoking, vigorous brushing, rinsing, and drinking liquids through straws are discouraged during the recovery period, as they can hinder healing and may cause the wound to reopen.
